Aileen has been in the word business since she won the citywide spelling bee in 5th grade. The Connecticut native has nearly two decades of experience in writing, editing, marketing, and publishing. Her experience ranges from writing and editing to sales, marketing and the production process.
In addition to running 3am Writers, LLC, Aileen teaches classes on social media for local continuing college education programs. Her articles have been published in The Rhode Island Small Business Journal and most recently in Dawnland Voices: An Anthology of Indigenous Writing from New England. Aileen blogs as Honda Mama for wehearthonda.com and her pieces can also be read on Medium.com.
My father is an entrepreneur, so the entrepreneurial fire has always been in me. After several years working in corporate America, I was ready to go out on my own. I began with a sales business, then decided to go back to my roots: writing and communications. I had received my B.A. in English from Wesleyan University in 1997 and, as my mother often said, it seemed a shame to waste that.
Words are my talent, and people are my passion, so partnering with businesses through 3am Writers is a true joy for me. I sit with a client, listen, and then write what I heard and saw. Nearly every time, the client says, ‘Oh my goodness—that’s what I’ve been saying all this time!’ That’s when I know I’ve captured their voice, their company culture.
When Aileen is not up (at 3am) writing, she is keeping up with her two children, Shane and Catherine, and her husband, Kirk. She relaxes by listening to music, enjoying the theater or movies, and, of course, reading!
