So, first, when a man and a woman really love each other…no, wait, that’s how babies are made.
This website, 3amwriters.com, was made by professionals. The next time I meet with a new client, and I am talking about how I create website content and how I work with fabulous designers who design fabulous websites and also bring in other fabulous resources (e.g., fabulous photographers, fabulous SEO strategists, etc.) to make a website even more fabulous, his or her first question will undoubtedly be:
Well, who did YOUR website?
This website was designed by: Cristy Vallee of vallee:design. Cristy is an extremely gifted professional designer who brings art to everything she touches.
This website was developed by: Daniella Norwood of EllaJ Designs. Daniella is a very talented professional designer and developer who creates wonderful WordPress sites.
The photographs were taken by Jen Osojnicki, Photographer. Jen is an amazing professional photographer who makes me and everyone else in front of her lens look good.
The content was written by…ME! Because obviously. (I’m a professional writer and content strategist.)
The reason I wanted to get this across is this: I work with professionals. Very high caliber professionals. I hired professionals to do my website, and you should, too. I am a professional, and while I am also a (generally) nice person who can work with almost anyone, I prefer to work with other professionals. Here’s why:
- Professionals understand that creating your website is their job.
- Professionals do a damn good job at their job.
- Professionals do not disappear.
Now, I get that your college roommate’s son just graduated from RISD and he’s like, TOTALLY brilliant, or your best friend bakes delectable cupcakes and she did her own website so, really, you can, too. I totally get that. But what happens when the roommate’s son decides to take a gap year backpacking in New Zealand? And what happens when the cupcake baker thinks your financial planning website should be covered with cupcakes?
I will tell you what happens: you rant and rave (in your brain or to your spouse) but then you bite your tongue, smile, and deal with it, because it’s not like you’re going to piss off your college roommate or your best friend over a website.
Then, you hire a professional to clean up the mess.
But now you’ve already lost 6 months to a year and your website never got launched or it got launched with the wrong hosting so it keeps crashing and you have no one to help you so please please please can someone fix it now? And you are desperate and this website has taken your valuable time and probably cost you money from lost sales and just general freaking frustration on the part of your customers.
So you call the professional and sob out your whole story with lots of [expletive deleted] and finally you take a breath and ask what they think, and the professional says, “Sure, I’m here to help.”
Because that’s what professionals do.
Which is why you should hire one in the first place.
P.S. The people in the photographs are real people, clients I have worked with to create websites, blogs, social media, and more. I want to give them a special shout out here, because they are all outstanding professionals in their own fields (not professional models, although they’re all quite good-looking, don’t you think?) They gave their time and testimonials to the website, and for that I am extremely grateful. THANK YOU, Scott Birtles of Herb Chambers Honda of Seekonk, Ray Aubin, Kerry Hall, and Amy Feucht.
